Today's Quote: Coach Harris.

The key to each season is homecoming.

You win that one, you got your alumni support.

You got your alumni support, you get that jock dorm,

you get the laundry money, you get the new cars.

Now, this season started out fine - we won some big ball games.

But we were lucky.

We can't get soft. We can't sit back on our laurels.

We win homecoming, we take league.

We take league, we get a bowl bid.

It's as simple as that.

But, gentlemen, you have got to want it.

- Do you want it?

Jets vs Colts : "We're gonna do it for Johnny!"

Matt Dillon, who lost the Best Supporting Actor award to the actor from Roseanne (Clooney in Syriana) by 2 votes, was, needless to say, robbed.  His performance in Crash deserved gold.  We flashback now to Coppola's The Outsiders, where Dillon's portrayal of Dallas cemented him as one of the greats, along with his co-star, Patrick Swayze (Darrel "Darry" Curtis).

We look to Dillon as his quotes from this top 25 film describe what's going to happen in today's Jet upset win over the Colts (The Colts will break-down late in the third quarter, and the Jets will advance to their, a'hem, second Super Bowl).

"We're gonna do this one for Johnny!"

"There ain't gonna be no RUMBLE without me!"

--Matt Dillon, Dallas "Dally" Winston, The Outsiders (1983)

Wall Street II - Wrapping Up.

Finally getting some images after six months of filming in NYC.  This pic was plucked from a scene filmed at Shun Lee.  Gekko looking a bit grey, but remember he took home gold in the original.  Only French Connection II brought back an Oscar winner in the Best Actor category - Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle - aka the great Gene Hackman.

Holyfield Returns February 20 - Title Shot!

That's right folks.  The Champ is going to fight Francois Botha (z-German who fought Tyson in 98), famous for his grunting punches.  This bout is for the WBF belt and expect Holyfield to knock this guy out in round one.  Wahahahaha!!  WELCOME BACK, CHAMP!!

Mel Gibson Strikes Back - Be Sure to Support Mel on January 29th.

I love the trailer on TV where he says "You're either the one on the cross, or the one nailing you to it."  They've got some moxy calling out the religion card.  Think about it and I am sure you can figure it out.

For those Mel Gibson bashers - you can just go to hell as you have lost sight of his cinematic contributions with these great films:  The Road Warrior, The Bounty ( with Anthony Hopkins - who should have been nominated for Best Actor), Braveheart, The Patriot, Payback (with Bill Duke), and as director for Apocalypto and Passion.

If you don't have respect for this man, if you don't have respect for what he did in Braveheart, then you're a fucking idiot, a fool.

Check out EDGE OF DARKNESS in theaters and show some support for my man, Mel.  He plays a cop from Boston who seeks revenge for the death of his daughter.

GFU Review: The Hurt Locker : 7.53

Should be called Risk Fix.  Female director sheds refreshing light on the dull and dry Iraqi War terrain.  This film is unique because it is an independent (Summit released it, Twilight being a recent Summit release) but we get three brief appearances by big time actors.  Their appearance is welcomed as I am fond of all three:  David Morse, Ralph Fiennes, and Guy Pierce.  Two of the three die (the right ones, fortunately) but it makes you think about the future of film, the state of today's actors, and the power of the up and comers.  Jeremy Renner does a fine job as Will James.  Is it enough for him to get nominated for a Best Actor Oscar?  Very close, although I have not yet appraised his competition.

I love the sequence in the supermarket where he is asked to get cereal and is presented with 100+ alternatives from which to choose from.  One of only a few good moments.

Hits the board with a high 7.53...not bad.

Tobey Maguire fired - no longer Spider-Man 4.

Good.  His goofy, surprised smile ( and BS song and dance) was getting old.  Rumors of John Malkovitch as The Vulture villian remain.

Friday Night Gajonka Film Fight. Entry: 2010.1

Welcome to the Friday Night Gajonka Film Fight (GFF).  What we do here is take two film characters, (sometimes more- if warranted), and we see what happens if they were to have a disagreement, get upset or irritated, and ultimately decide to throw down.

LAST WEEKs RECAP:

First Blood's Sheriff Will Teasle (Brian Dennehy)  Versus The Karate Kid's Sensei John "Sweep the Leg" Kreese.

Int. - Sheriff Will Teasle's Office - morning.

Sheriff Teasle sits in his office enjoying the glazed chocolate donut and coffee he just picked up at the D&D.  Sensei Kreese enters and is upset about how the Sheriff has a microphone that lets him talk to the entire town.

"All I hear very day is you, Teasle.  You on that damn microphone.  I see them installing more speakers outside.  Enough of this shit," charges a clearly distraught and tired Kreese.  "I'm going to give a lesson - no charge.  A little taste of what I do down at the Dojo."

Teasle is shocked that Kreese dare address him like this.  The last time he saw this lack of respect he had a Rambo problem.

"You uh-," Sheriff Teasle begins to choke on his chocolate donut.  He reaches for his coffee and misses, grazing with his finger tips.

Kreese is clearly disgusted.  "I just moved into this shit-town and I haven't slept a full night yet you lazy fat piece of crap.  Kreese siezes the opportunity and hits Teasle with a hard karate chop to his neck.  He grabs Teasle by the back of his Sheriff's jacket and bashes his face into his desk three times.  Teasle is still choking.  His face is turning red, enraged at the attitude of this newcomer.  He hates newcomers, people who don't like his speakers, complainers and trouble-makers.

Teasle tries to say "You fucker," but his throat is obstructed.  Sensei Kreese continues to attack, this time he sets up his finishing move with a round-house spinning kick to Teasles chest.  Teasle flies backward and into the wall behind his desk chair.  He would have flown out the window- but he only has one in his office - on the north-east side.

The kick rattles the donut-piece free and it looks like we are going to actually get a fair fight after all.

Sensei Kreese screams as he lines up his finishing move, "The Kreese Kutter."  Teasle, a  booming man and fast for his size, gives Kreese an angry smile.  He jumps forward and grabs Kreese's hair with his left hand.  He pulls Kreese's head back, setting up his big ham-hock right hand.

"You little fucker!" Teasle yells as he delivers a Ray Jackson right hand that floors Kreese quietly.

Deputy Steenbock enters after noticing the commotion.  Teasle unlinks the keyts from his belt and tosses them to Steenbock.

"Here," Teasle says.  "Lock this karate chop up.  I want to finish my breakfast."

Winner:  Sheriff Will Teasle - Non-terminal K.O.

Today's Quote.

"Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads."

Best Villian Ever Tournament Commences...

*Note:  Please be reminded that this is a double elimination competition, if you lose once you can still move on to the finals.  We vote every 15 days and the bracket will be released once we move through the first round of competition.

Please choose the nastier villian who you feel should move on to the Second Round:

Bull Hurley (Over The TopVS.  Amon Goth (Feinnes in Schindler's List)

Grand Moff Tarkin (The great Peter Cushing in Empire Strikes Back) VS.  Captain Vidal (Pan's Labyrinth)

The Ledger's Joker VS.  Michael Corleone (The Godfather: Part II)

How to Vote:  Each matchup is given five points.  So, you get to divide up the five points between both competitors.  For example, based upon the matchup, I would give The Ledger's Joker a 4, and Corleone a 1.

Please chime in - plenty of time 15 days for this first set.  If you are not familiar with Captain Vidal - check youtube.  This guy could go all the way!

Best of: Robin Williams

*Note: Ranking based upon his character.  For example, Club Paradise would rank higher and at #1 - but the film is carried by Barry and Barry (Levy and Moranis).

10.  Fisher King - Won GG, lost Oscar to Hannibal Lecter.  Lecter just beat DeNiro's Max Cady by 88 votes.  It starts things off at #10 here.

9.  Death To Smoochy (2002)

8.  One Hour Photo (2002)

7.  Popeye (1980) His first.

6.  Club Paradise (1986)

3.  Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)  One of his greatest - won GG.

2.  Good Will Hunting (1997)  Stole the Oscar from Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights.  Reynolds won the GG.  It was coin-toss in the end with Williams edging Reynolds by 23 votes.

1. Baron von Munchausen (1988)  The funniest Robin Williams you will ever see.

Today's Quote.

"Now you can't leave."

-Sonny (Chazz Palminteri) in "A Bronx Tale" (1993)

AC/DC to Reign Iron Man II Soundtrack - Hopefully.

After seeing the new "Iron Man II" trailer, it looks like "Shoot To Thrill" and "Razor's Edge" will be on the soundtrack.  "Shoot To Thrill" is long overdue for inclusion within the film world.  Mostly heard outside hockey coliseums, the song is a banger and an excellent choice.  If BeBob is making these decisions then I love the guy more than ever.

What is of critical importance is if "War Machine" from Ack Dack's "Black Ice" album makes the cut.  It is a killer song, and with the character already in the script, the decision-makers will disappointment if they do not add it to the line-up.

FYI- They should check out AC/DC's "Who Made Who" soundtrack from the film "Maximum Overdrive" if they want to add a few more killers...namely "D.T."

But I promise not to give away any more of my secrets.

This is good news - chime in please!
